8 Days to Amizmiz plaine

Trek through the villages of the Amizmiz Plain in this 8 day tour. Visit a Berber village called Ait Zitoun known for its olive trees; then proceed on foot to the village of Tizgui and enjoy the panoramic view of the plain of Haouz, Move on to Ait Ahmad a village constructed with clay and stones, then experience the local lifestyle of the crossed villages, also visit Imin’Tala a large and the most important crossed Berber village, and finally reach Marrakech.

DAY 1 : Marrakech

Arrival and transfer to hotel . Dinner and overnight.

DAY 2 : Marrakech

Half day sight seeing tour of Marrakech. Free lunch, and afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

DAY 3 : Marrakech / Ait Zitoun 900 m.

Transfer to the foot of the Atlas mountains (40 minutes drive) where we will meet our mules. On the way you can see rich farming of cereals and barley. Arrive at Ait Zitoun, a Berber Village situated in Haouz known for its olives trees. Then enjoy a 3 hour walk. Lunch packet on the way.Dinner and accommodation at guesthouse.

DAY 4 : Ait Zitoun 900 m/ Ait Hmad 1400 m.

After breakfast, we continue towards the village of Tizgui, from where we will appreciate the nice panoramic view of the plain of Haouz and the Amizmiz region. We will cross the pass of Ait Ahmad where at its foot we will discover a terrace farm and also the villages at mountains flake. 5 hours walk. Lunch on the way and overnight at chez l’habitant in a village of 200 inhabitants constructed with clay and stones in the middle of mineral landscape at 1200 m altitude. Life here is based essentially on irrigation farming : fruits trees, cereals, legumes and animal breeding.

DAY 5 : Ait Ahmad 1400 m / Imi n’Tala 1500 m.

We continue along the left bank of the Amizmizriver. We will be in touch with the local life style of the crossed villages : traditional farming , pastoral life, women’scraft work. Lunch en the route. After this 5 hour walk we reach Imin’Tala a large Berber village and the most important crossed one. Situated on a mountain flake and exposed to the right bank of the Amizmiz valley which provides this village with rich agriculture. Unfortunately none of these villages have electricity nor water but inhabitants’ hospitality remains untouched.We will arrive in the middle of the afternoon to the ‘chez l’habitant’

DAY 6 : Imin’Tala / forester house / Marrakech

We will take a 4 hour walk till we reach Marrakech.En route we cross many villages constructed of clay. According to the weather, the tour leader reserves the right to modify the itinerary for the security and comfort of the clients. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

DAY 7 : back to Marrakech

Day at leisure on half board. Half pension. Diner and overnight at hotel.
